How do I know the photos are genuine?
Every photo has to be taken live with the in-app camera the moment you post -- there's no option to upload one from your gallery. Cleru also checks that you're actually at the shop's real location before the post can go through, so a photo can't be posted from somewhere else.
Are posts reviewed before they go live?
Yes. Every post goes through review before it appears in the feed, with one exception: a shop's own verified manager posting about their own store, since that account is already tied to a real business.
What stops someone posting a fake or duplicate listing?
Cleru automatically checks new posts against what's already live at that same shop and flags likely duplicates before they're published, so the same item doesn't flood the feed multiple times.
Is my location shared with other people?
No. Your device's location is only ever used to confirm you're at the shop when you post -- it's never shown to other users. Only the shop's own public location appears in the app.
Are the shops and restaurants on Cleru real businesses?
Yes -- shop listings are drawn from real Australian business location data, and business owners can claim and manage their own listing directly.
What if I see something wrong or inappropriate?
Every post can be reported directly from the app, and a real person reviews every report -- nothing is left up automatically. You can also block any account, and blocked accounts can be managed from Settings.
Is Cleru trustworthy? Who is behind it?
Cleru is made and operated by Cleru Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Adelaide, and has been live on the Apple App Store and Google Play since September 2026. Both stores reviewed the app before listing it. Every post is reviewed by our team before it appears, your location is never shown to other users, and you can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app at any time. Is Cleru free? How does it make money?
Cleru is free to download and use, with no subscription and no in-app purchases. We plan to earn through clearly labelled sponsored placements and, in future, retailer partnerships. Shops never pay to have their clearance finds shown, and we never sell your personal data.
Is Cleru available now?
Yes. Cleru launched in September 2026 and is available today on the App Store and Google Play. It currently covers shops across Australia, with the most activity in Adelaide.
